Perplex City Blog - Currently undergoing “upgrades”

As we wait, patiently, for the official website to update; The Sentinel updates and tells gives us part three of the Violet interview, where she answers questions people have emailed in, it also lets us know Violet and Kurt will get an award for stealing the Cube, strangely it’s on the same day as the Earth Cube-handover party…

Speaking of the party; a time and place have been confirmed in the latest news letter, we are also told there’s online chats with the Cube finder and Mind Candy on the nineteenth and twentieth of Febuary. More information available here.

So, after finding out that Violet was Combed Thunderclap and reading the first part of the interview with The Sentinel, we’ve recieved the second of three. It tells how her and Kurt worked together to sneak into the Academy and be there when the Cube was supposed to be stolen. It went wrong and Violet and the Cube ended up getting teleported to Earth. Because of this new information Kurt has been given his job back at the Academy, and there’s a new set of futures.

Violet then posted on her blog basically saying she doesn’t know what will happen now.

Above; A Photograph of The Receda Cube

For around a year now we’ve known it wasn’t the heist group who stole the Cube but a mysterious entity we’ve come to know as Combed Thunderclap. CT’s identity has been guessed at but kept a closely guarded secret. Until Now…With the first photos of the Cube appearing and its return finally successful the biggest news over in Perplex City is that the Cube “thief” has stepped forward and we’ve found out that:

Combed Thunderclap is Violet Kiteway.

It turns out Violet was the person who stole the card ad in the recent Sentinel article (part 1 of 3 with Violet) we are told how Violet stole the Cube. It appears, she done so with the help of Kurt.

Interestingly there’s an email address at the bottom of the article which you can send questions for Violet to answer in part 3 of the interview.

The other Sentinel update was about the 3rd Power and how they no longer appear to be a threat to Perplex City but what happened to V? To his boss? What about the agents on Earth? They may be down but they certainly aren’t out.

One final thing to not is that on the side of the cube, “2/3″appears; does that mean there’s two more out there? And what’s that symbol on Violet’s necklace in the latest picture?

The biggest news of the day? The Cube has been found! This Sentinel article gives us a rundown of what’s happened:

• The Cube was found by astro_random.
• It was found in Wakerley Great Wood (a public forest), southern England.
• It was discovered on the 4th February 2007.
• When Sente heard the news he broke into “decidedly undignified cheering”.
• Celebration reigns across both Earth and Perplex City.

A page on the Perplex City website is updated to tell us what was coming soon:

• 14th Febuary - perplexcity.com updates “with more puzzles than you can shake a SuDoku at.”
• 24th February - Celebration and the reward will be exchanged for the Cube somewhere in London.
• 1st March - Season 2 Wave 1 launches, available in stores.
• Soon - A new story.
• Over the next three weeks - A look back at Season 1.

Oh, and quietly in the background Kurt updated this morning, it seems to be looking back at everything that’s happened; Caine, Scarlett, Roberto Solitano, etc.

An update on Helena Frye’s PXCPD page suggests she knows Combed Thunderclap’s true identity:

Feb. 7, 270: You have a lot of time to think about loose ends in the hospital. The Third Power may be done for, but still no word from the one who really took the Cube. But even through that stew of drugs, I’ve realised - I know whodunit. I know who took the Cube, and how, and why. So I called up and we had a little chat. “It was you,” I said. There was only silence from the other end. “You have to come forward,” I said. “It’s all over. You can either tell the world on your terms, or I’ll tell on mine.” And then I hung up.

It looks like will know who our mysterious Cube “thief” was.

The Sentinel updated yesterday with information regarding Sente. Ryan Cahill, who cheated in the PCAG by taking drugs, has owned up to the charges against him; because of this the decision was made to release Sente (who knew about his addiction)  from prison.  A new set of futures was also added.

This has not been confirmed yet; but in the area, several people though the Cube might be buried, a hole was found and a card place in it. Take a look at this thread for more speculation.

It may be over.

Kurt was first to post today, he just repeats what we knew already. He also shows his admiration for what Caine did to distract the guards during Operation Bayonet.

A few hours later Violet updated and that tells a different side to the story. Scarlett told her “Caine, Caine kept asking me where the Cube is. But I don’t know.” What this could mean is still unknown, then on her Key she got the message;

“It’s Faberling,” he said, over and over, “Caine Johannsen called a song Faberling. It’s not, it can’t be a coincidence. It’s not a real word. It’s a made-up word, Anna and I…. She used to call me Faberling. It was our secret and she swore, she swore never to tell a living soul.”

Violet ended up phoning Detective Ranjit and told him what had happened. Caine was arrested within the hour.

The final (small) update was The Sentinel, confirming Caine had been arrested under the charges of murdering Anna Heath. Of course, there’s speculation about whether or not he is guilty, undoubtedly we’ll hear more soon.

Yesterday was Operation Bayonet, running for two hours it involved several puzzles, people dieing and fake phone-calls being made. It would take a whole post to report on what happened so take a look at silentlybroken’s summary for a more in-depth look at yesterday’s events.

All things considered the Operation seemed to go quite well, the infiltrated the 3rd Power, rescuing Scarlett and killing a few people. The end of the event was marked with a message from an unknown entity;

Form the layer. Find the era. Follow the Way. Find the cube

It wouldn’t be until the next day we discover what happened though; The Sentinel updated first, confirming six people died in the raid - four Third Power and two police (Fishcook and Harrison). Three others were injured and “dozens” of Third Power were detained. Dozens more were captured in raids organised from the information obtained from the 3rd Power that were already in custody. It also tells us during Scarlett’s capture she was tortured, it is unknown why.

There was a new View From Earth as well.

Scarlett then updated, a rather incoherent post. It seems she was tortured, something to do with her hands. Luckily she should heal, but her ordeal appears to left her mentally scarred.

Caine followed with an update, confirming Scarlett is still alive and telling us how Caine ended up in Operation Bayonet and what happened after he distracted the guards.

In Perplex City they seem to have “decapitated” The Third Power’s operations.

Here, on Earth, we get one step closer to finding the Cube.
